I can’t believe that tomorrow it will be 2017! So much has happened this year as I finished my year abroad in Paris, moved back to London, and started my last year of university at Oxford. I managed to work on my blog a lot at the beginning of the year when I was away but unfortunately it is slowly slipping away as my finals loom ever closer…
Despite that, 2016 has probably been my best year for blogging in terms of enjoyment, content, collaborations, friendships and more. I’ve tried to be more consistent with my posting and I’m being more selective about what I post too. I now post more lifestyle posts than before but I’m trying to increase the number of book and film related posts too so that remains the main category of my site. I like posting about lots of different things including restaurant reviews, travel posts, study tips, app reviews etc. but books should still dominate What’s Hot!
This post is more for myself really so I can keep a rough record of what I’ve been up to but I thought I’d share some of my blogging milestones from the past year:
Blog Posts Written: 142
(Blog Posts Planned: 18583659174683😫)
Instagram Posts: 291
Here are some of my favourite posts written this year:
I’ve started working with a lot more brands this year and it has been great fun collaborating on a variety of blog and social posts with brands I have loved for years. Some of my favourites have included: Daniel Wellington, Cath Kidston, Elie Beaumont, Depop, Penguin UK Books, Simon & Schuster, Paramount UK, Twentieth Century Fox Film, Quercus Books and more!
Whilst on my year abroad, I was really frustrated that I couldn’t attend any blogging events or meet any British bloggers so I’ve tried to go to as many as possible since I’ve returned. Unfortunately since I’ve gone back to university I’ve had the same problem as I’m just too busy with work to attend events regularly but I’ve gone to a good few recently.
The best was the Hogwarts in the Snow event I attended last month which was the most magical night of my life. The most unique would have to be the 18th Century Parisian Salon event I attended in Paris at the beginning of the year. I also attended the Sinfonietta Concert in Paris twice, the Christmas in July event by TASK PR and most recently the BUCAS Travel Bloggers Event at Dirty Bones in London.
I was unable to attend the Cath Kidston press show, the Newbury Races and Cirque du Soleil events, which is a great shame but I’d highly recommend attending the latter two as I’ve been before and they’re both spectacular!
Best Blogging Moment of 2016
My best blogging moment of 2016 was undoubtedly the Hogwarts in the Snow event hosted by the Warner Bros Studio Tour in London. This was an absolutely magical event with lots of food, wine and HARRY POTTER! I received a large bag of goodies on arrival and could freely explore the Tour with my boyfriend. This was such a lovely event where I met some fellow bookstagrammers and completely immersed myself in Harry Potter fun. As a book blogger this was literally a dream come true!
I’ve got some really exciting collaborations coming up next year with River Island and EMP Clothing so look out for those in the new year!
Have a very happy new year everyone!
