A long standing fan of E4’s Made in Chelsea, I was intrigued by the news that Chelsea’s playboy Jamie Laing is now part of a new series on Channel 4 – Reverse Engineers. Laing, along with Alex Brooker and Rachel Riley have joined forces as the Reverse Engineers. With each new episode, they are presented with a box containing a mysterious item that they have to try identify. The item is always something new and innovative in energy and they have to think of a real-world use for it.
In the following episode we see the team try to come up with a use for used coffee beans. This is something that you probably throw out every. single. day. But it turns out that coffee can actually be turned into numerous biofuels and biochemicals. Can you guess which product from B&Q you can make with left over coffee? Find out by watching the video below! (Predictably, Jamie Laing wanders off half way through the video because of a woman…)
The great thing about these short videos is that you don’t have to know anything about science or engineering to enjoy them. They are a great way of informing yourself about the latest innovations in energy and finding out how the most basic things around you can actually be turned into really useful chemicals. We are all guilty of unsustainable practices, that’s how issues like global warming and over-farming have become so significant. Everybody around the world needs to start thinking more about how we be more economical in order to preserve our planet for future generations.
So how can we waste less and do more? Find out more about Make the Future London and Channel 4’s Reverse Engineers on the website here.
