WHAT IS IT?
Vipre is an antivirus program that is designed to optimise the overall performance of your PC by melding antivirus and anti-spyware software together in one single and powerful tool. This combination gives you high performance software that doesn’t slow down your PC, is low on system resources and makes it easy to protect your PC from malwares.
This software is really easy to download. It’s quick and can be done in the background of whatever else you’re doing on your computer so there’s no disturbance there. It basically downloaded itself and started working immediately. There is very little set up, you don’t need to enter any of your personal details or preferences, this is just a really straight forward anti-virus software that does exactly what it’s supposed to do – nothing less, nothing more.
WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
The software itself is really simple and easy to use. There are only four ‘tabs’: overview, scan, manage and tools. The colour scheme is a really clear blue and green so it’s easy to navigate and it’s clear where all the different functions are. On the ‘Overview’ page it tells you how many risks you’ve been protected from, when your subscription ends, your scan status, whether you’re currently protected and whether you need to update.
I usually find anti-virus software incredibly annoying because it pops up every five seconds, even when you’re using a safe application, but Vipre is different. Vipre only pops up when there’s actually a threat to my computer. It seems to combat the malwares automatically as I only get little popups when it’s already dealt with the problem. I was slightly concerned about this because I wondered if it was stopping some of my programmes from running, but it seems to be pretty good at figuring out which ones are good and which ones are bad.
As soon as I plugged my USB stick in, a little popup appeared asking me if I would like to scan the new hardware which was handy. In this case, I didn’t need to scan the hardware so I told it not to scan it and the popup went away and thankfully did not return as many other annoying softwares do.
I was keen to test out Vipre because all the others that I had used (McAfee, Norton etc) had just become incredibly annoying and expensive and weren’t really working to be honest. Vipre is so much simpler than any of the other softwares out there on market. It is quick to download, simple to use and effective in defending your computer against the bad stuff. If you, like me, are sick of these flashy softwares that are difficult to navigate then I’d highly recommend that you try out Vipre for yourself. Plus it comes with free US based technical support!
